Strong Sensory Design Enhances the Validity of Test Results
Product Specifications for Sensory Evaluation & Laboratory Use
Sensory laboratory specifications and strong sensory design are essential to enhance testing, evaluation and maintain repeatable, accurate, and dependable results. For this reason, these specifications are provided for the professional sensory researcher, scientist, and evaluator. These specifications define conformity to standard laboratory procedures and methods.

| Parameter | Rating |
| Maximum temperature | 150°C (302°F) |
| Exposure duration | Up to 60 minutes |
| Heating rate | Controlled |
| Cooling rate | Controlled |
Acceptable Sanitization Methods (Always Use)
The following are acceptable methods:
✅ Hot water wash and commercial dishwasher cycles.
✅ Use compartmented racks avoid high-pressure spray.
✅ Steam sterilization at 121°C (250°F)
✅ Chemical sanitization okay for food contact surfaces
✅ Ethanol and/or isopropyl alcohol sanitization
✅ Peracetic acid systems
✅ Quaternary ammonium sanitizers
Not Recommended Sanitation (Do Not Use)
❌ Open-flame sterilization
❌ Direct burner heating
❌ Dry heat sterilization above 150°C (302°F)
❌ Thermal shock processing
❌ Rapid ice-water cooling following heating
Thermal Shock Limitation (Do Not Use)
Lead-free crystalline glasses generally exhibit lower thermal shock resistance than laboratory borosilicate
❌ Do not expose to direct flame
❌ Do not use on stovetop or laboratory
❌ Do not use on lab burner
❌ Do not heat in microwave
❌ Do not transferred directly: freezer to boiling liquid
❌ Do not water quench following heat exposure
Storage and Handling
Store under normal indoor conditions: Flared rims are smaller than max bowl diameters, will not touch when glasses placed together on flat surface. Do not pickup multiple glasses in one hand, rims may break upon collision with other rims. Moreover, sensory glassware should be examined for rim chips prior to tasting.
| Parameter | Value |
| Temperature | 5°C to 40°C (41°F to 104°F) |
| Relative Humidity | Non-condensing |
| UV Exposure | Avoid prolonged exposure |
Compliance Specification Statement
For POs, specifications, tenders, and compliance documentation: NEAT™ the sensory evaluation glass is manufactured from lead-free European crystalline glass by Rona a.g., Republic of Slovakia. Moreover, they are suitable for direct food and beverage contact, compatible with standard steam sterilization cycles up to 121°C (250°F), and suitable for controlled dry heat sanitization up to 150°C (302°F). All NEAT™ products are for sensory evaluation, beverage analysis, and laboratory applications. NEAT™ is not borosilicate laboratory glassware. Nor intended for high-temperature laboratory sterilization processes above specified limits.
Evaluation Sample Coverings
For lab or comparison evaluation, sensory samples should be covered with lids to allow headspace equilibrium to occur prior to olfactory sampling. DO NOT USE soda lime glass lids/dishes, as they are prone to breakage. Acceptable lid options are:
| Lid Material | Recommendation |
| Paper or plastic | Hotel-style sanitary glass caps, food beverage caps |
| Borosilicate glass | Sanitized, borosilicate reduces chances of shards |
Naturally Engineered Aroma Technology (NEAT) is the foundation for the best spirits sensory glass available. Flavor is 90% aroma, and every spirits glass should display all aromas and enhance flavor.
The NEAT spirits glass was tested against tulip whiskey glasses, Glencairn, and other spirits glasses under controlled, uniform conditions by the University of Nevada at Las Vegas (UNLV) Chemistry Department to verify empirical panel tasting results. Specifically, GCMS testing was performed. Independent sensory studies verified our years of research. As a result, other whiskey nosing glasses and spirits glasses can’t compare to NEAT aromas and flavor. Finally, science built a better glass.
